“Kotahi te koohao o te ngira e kuhuna ai te miro maa, te miro pango, te miro whero” –

“ There is but one eye of the needle, through which white, black and red thread must pass”.

This tonikura was spoken by Kiingi Pootatau, the first Maaori Kiingi, at the Ngaaruawaahia ceremony anointing him as such. It has implications for both the making of connections and the collaboration that must ensue as we work towards supporting a common vision.

Mahitahi Trust - What we do

Mahitahi Trust is a kaupapa Māori mental health and addictions provider, and we are a community partner of Kia Ora Ake.

As a provider of the Kia Ora Ake service, Mahitahi Trust works alongside primary and intermediate schools across the Counties Manukau district to support tamariki aged 5–12 and their whānau.

Through a collaborative, community-focused approach, Mahitahi Trust helps foster resilience, strengthen connections, and support tamariki to confidently navigate life’s transitions, ensuring they feel supported, connected, and ready to succeed.
